This book is raising hope among these young men that their lives are not over, that despite their crime they have value, and that they can succeed.
We recently began a Book Study with a group of young men at the Patuxent Institution who committed crimes as juveniles, were charged as adults, and are now serving their sentence in a high security adult prison. We are walking together through Chris Wilson’s book, The Master Plan.
Have a look at this link to see Wilson’s interview on the Daily Show. His book is raising hope among these young men that their lives are not over, that despite their crime they have value, and that they can succeed. Wilson does not focus on the multitude of obstacles he faced but takes responsibility for making a plan for his future. It is reminiscent of God’s promise in Jeremiah 29:11, this encouraging promise being given in the midst of seventy years of captivity. Wilson wrote his own Master Plan but we know there is also The Master’s Plan which far exceeds anything we can imagine.
If you are feeling generous, click this link to buy a copy of the paperback and have it sent to: unCUFFED ministries 5400 Loch Raven Blvd Baltimore, MD 21239. We will give it to an incarcerated boy as we expand this program to other facilities in Maryland. Maybe buy yourself a copy as well to better understand the boys we serve.
